La préparation dure deux mois. Elle repose sur la morphologie du poulain et sur une écoute attentive du propriétaire : entre physique et mental, le dosage s'adapte à chaque cheval. Un mot d'ordre, du calme.
Le premier mois, le poulain apprend à se déplacer et développe sa musculature, notamment au marcheur 6 places. Il est logé en box individuel, sort seul au paddock, il est brossé et douché. À la fin du mois, il est photographié au modèle et filmé pour le site d'Arqana.
Le deuxième mois, il apprend à trotter librement et à se placer pour le modèle, sur une piste de 120 m de tour où se succèdent courtiers, entraîneurs et acheteurs. 75 % des acheteurs font leur choix pendant ces visites. Le jour de la vente, le poulain arrive prêt physiquement, toiletté, présenté au licol en cuir.
Preparation runs for two months. It is built on the conformation of the individual yearling and on close attention to the owner: the balance between physical and mental work is set horse by horse. One watchword throughout — calm.
In the first month, the yearling learns to move and builds muscle, mainly on the six-horse walker. He is stabled individually, turned out on his own, brushed and washed. At the end of the month he is photographed standing for conformation and filmed for the Arqana website.
In the second month, he learns to trot free and to stand up for inspection, on a 120-metre circuit where bloodstock agents, trainers and buyers follow one another. 75% of buyers make their choice during these visits. On sale day the yearling arrives physically ready, groomed, and led in a leather headcollar.
